Magnus Graae

Magnus Graae is based in Denmark and the founder of Urban Rewilders - an organisation that engages citizens in transforming urban spaces to biodiverse pockets of nature in the city.

Magnus is a 2022 SUGi fellow, member of UNECEs Network of Experts on Urban Forestry and his work is focused on creating the cities of tomorrow. This means pushing for policies, urban planning and hands-on projects that bring real nature into the urban environment.

The demands for the use of space in the city are complex and multilayered, and the Miyawaki-method offers a way of bringing people together to create better cities with more nature, better conditions for biodiversity and a chance of mitigating problems such as urban heating and flooding. By involving citizens in this process, local ownership grows along with the trees that are being planted and helps ensure that the cities of tomorrow sustain both people and nature.
