formigas-de-embaúba

formigas-de-embaúba is a nonprofit organization, run by Rafael and Gabriela, that promotes environmental education through the planting of native mini-forests by students in public schools in Brazil, bringing the urgency of ecosystem regeneration and climate change mitigation to the new generations.

Rafael Ribeiro is a co-founder of formigas-de-embaúba and manages strategic planning, partnerships and communications. He researches and works at the intersection of education, ecology and art, and, between 2010 and 2016, worked with financial structuring and fundraising for energy and infrastructure projects in Latin America and acted as a mentor in several institutes supporting social organizations.

Gabriela Ribeiro Arakaki is a co-founder of formigas-de-embaúba and its pedagogical coordinator. She has been working for over 15 years as an environmental educator and facilitator of collective creation processes of projects on environmental issues in schools and communities in Brazil. She is a co-author of the book “Know and Transform – Integrative Projects”, in addition to having worked as a geography teacher at the municipal education network in São Paulo.
